The fund raising dinner dance in aid of the Bombeiros Voluntarias de Silves, held on 29 September at Restaurant Ponte Romana in Silves, was well attended and raised €1,535.00. The organisers, Angela and Ray, would like to thank all sponsors, including Tivoli Hotels Porto, Sofitel Hotel, Porches, Bistro O Cais Silves, Restaurant O Alambique Poço Barreto, Restaurant O Leao Porches, Restaurant Fonte de Pedras Sao Bras, Actual Boat Trips, Lagos and Decanto Vinhos, Lagoa.
Commandant Antonio Nunes thanked all those attending for their generous support. This money will be going towards achieving our current target of €15,000, to purchase a second hand ambulance from Germany, because much of the existing fleet is old, unreliable and totally unsuitable for taking patients on anything but short local journeys. So to maintain momentum, we are grateful for the support of KISS-FM and Oceanico.
Sally Richards and Dean McCann have given us unique items of Geoff Capes’ memorabilia, including personalised tee shirts, signed original pantomime poster and most especially a Cliff Richards record album dedicated on the sleeve to Geoff from Cliff. On his regular KISS-FM radio programme. Sir Owen Gee will be auctioning these items on Sunday 8th and 15th.
