Throughout 2004/05 generous donations have been received from Carvoeiro Golf and Country Club, Golfers from Mungo’s Bar Carvoeiro, Mandy’s Ladies Night and Kathy Lancaster from “The Village Inn” also private donations for which we have been extremely grateful. Your donations have helped to buy more equipment and winter clothing for the Bombeiros. We now need to purchase equipment and clothing to replace that which was burned and damaged during last years fire fighting and to prepare our firefighters for this coming summer.
Last Year we thought it would be fun to introduce a Bombeiros Calendar for 2005, this was a real task especially trying to get the Bombeiros together quite an impossibility during the summer months. Of course people wanted to see 'Calendar Boys' but the Bombeiros Association do not allow any 'undressing', therefore we had to show you the men 'at work'. The fund received €2,621.14. from the sale of the 2005 Calendars, this was only made possible by the photography done freely by Nuno Campos and the following business’s who each sponsored a month of the calendar. AFPOP, Hawker Design & Publication. R.S.A. Campos de Tenis, Lda. BUPA international. Sovereign Consultoria e Planeamento Fiscal Lda. Porterreno S.A. Administraçao de Monte Carvoeiro. Freemaps. Prosecom Protecçao Seguranca e Comunicaçoes Lda. Vale D’Oliveiras Resort and Spa-Carvoeiro, Canary Wharf Publicaçoes Unipessoal Lda, and Val Johnstone (Private Nurse) First Aid Instructor. Due to this sponsorship all the money made from the sale of every calendar went into the Bombeiros fund.
With the sale of the Calendars and the dance we had a total of €5,845.14. The fund is held by Val Johnstone who can be contacted on 282 471 550.
Both these events took a lot of time and effort and I would like to thank Maria Taylor, Halcyon Cann, Chris Myatt and Julia de Freitas as organizers, for all their help.
How do we let people know about these events?
The Algarve English Press who have always been extremely generous with their sponsorship in the way of freely advertising our charitable events - The Resident Algarve Edition, The Portugal News and Euroweekly News... our sincere thanks.
